We are very excited to share that Heavenly Perogy was honoured to have the distinction of recently catering a reception for Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister of Canada and Minister of Finance, and the MP for University—Rosedale, in Toronto. The guest of honour was Janet Yellen, United States Secretary of the Treasury, joining the festivities was Yulia Kovaliv, Ukraine's Ambassador to Canada.

 Chrystia Freeland, of Ukrainian heritage, was born in Peace River, Alberta and assumed office as the Member of Parliament for Toronto Centre in July 2013. She was elected as Member of Parliament for University—Rosedale in October 2015 and re-elected in October 2019 and September 2021. Since 2019, Chrystia has been the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada. With her strong roots linked to Ukraine, if there ever was a time in history to have a Canadian politician of influence in the right place at the right time, it is this moment as the war on Ukraine continues.

Fittingly, the theme for the event was devoted to Ukraine. The menu consisted of authentic Ukrainian cuisine, with a modern twist on traditional appetizers. A highlight of the hors d'oeuvres served included mini version of potato and cheddar perogy with caramelized onions, fried zucchini rolls with fresh tomato, garlic, and house sauce, along with pyrizhky buns stuffed with chicken and nalysnyky crêpes with mushroom & onion filling.
