Eve of Theophany - “Йорданська Вечеря”

With the change of the Church Calendar on December 20, 2023, Holy Theophany was celebrated on Jan. 5 & 6, 2024. The eve of Theophany “Йорданська Вечеря” was celebrated only at the Cathedral with the Great Compline and Great Blessing of Waters on Jan. 5 which was followed by our fullest parish dinner since Covid-19 and a wonderful concert by our cathedral choir conductor A. Dmytrovych, and some students. The hall was overflowing with almost 150 guests who enjoyed a delicious vegetarian (lenten) meal in honour of the fasting day.

The older students from St. Volodymyr Ukrainian School performed the traditional “Вертеп” as a fundraiser for the school, while some of the choir members joined together presenting beautiful renditions of well-known carols and віншування along with special performances of bandura. It was a very special and inspiring evening!

Many thanks to pan Andriy for leading the choir during the Great Compline and for organizing the concert. Thank you to the students of the Ukrainian school for their fun performance. And a heartfelt thank you to pani Olya Adamec for organizing the dinner and all the volunteers who helped make it happen (including the photographers!).

Fr. Jaroslaw Greeted with Gifts

It was also a day to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Fr. Jaroslaw’s ordination with letters of congratulations from the Metropolitan and Eastern Eparchy, and an icon of Christ bestowed upon him by His Grace, Bishop Andriy. We wish Fr. Jaroslaw many more years in God’s vineyard - многая та благая літа!

Holy Theophany (Cathedral and Chapel)

Divine Liturgies were celebrated at each temple on Saturday January 6th, each with a Great Blessing of Waters. And on Sunday at the Chapel, there was a lively Kolyada sing-a-long after the potluck.
