Trinity Saturday & Provody
The Saturday preceding Pentecost Sunday is known as All Soul’s Day - the day the Orthodox Church remembers all of the departed with a memorial liturgy. In the Roman Catholic and Anglican Churches this is celebrated on the November 2, the day after Halloween or May 5 - dia dos muertos in Mexico.
What To Bring to the Cemetery
In the Ukrainian tradition, it is also customary to visit your ancestors at the cemeteries on Saturday after the memorial liturgy or on Sunday after the liturgy, often followed by a memorial meal (тризна or помин) at the graveside.

Is Your Family Buried In Another Country?
We know that not everyone has loved ones buried here in the region (they may be in other countries or provinces). As such, we will offer a general panakhyda after the Liturgy for the deceased on the Saturday before Pentecost - Sat. Jun. 22, 12:15pm at the Cathedral. You are welcome to bring kalachi or koliva to have blessed.
