Melodic “Gerdan” Visits SVCC
On Sunday afternoon of Mar. 17, 2024, Chernivtsi-based folk choir Gerdan performed to a full-house at St. Volodymyr Cultural Centre. This performance was one of the last after a 18-city tour across Canada, sponsored by Cobblestone Freeway Tours.
Their clear and potent voices combined with their magnetic stage presence inevitably brought many listeners to tears and many others to their feet as they danced to their catchy rhythms. It was a true joy to witness their talent!
An Intimate Reception
After the performance, the Cultural Centre hosted an intimate reception thanking the artists for their dedication to Ukrainian culture, for their time as they travel away from their families, and for their mission of reappropriating the many Ukrainian folk songs that russians have stolen. It was a special moment for all! Thank you to the organizers!
