Sunday after the Nativity of Christ
Commemoration of Holy Righteous Joseph the Betrothed, David the King,
and James the Brother of the Lord.
Epistle reading from the Epistle [letter] of Saint Paul the Apostle to Galatians 1:11-19
Gal 1:11
For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man's gospel.
Gal 1:12
For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.
Gal 1:13
For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it.
Gal 1:14
And I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers.
Gal 1:15
But when He who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by His grace,
Gal 1:16
was pleased to reveal His Son to me, in order that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with anyone;
Gal 1:17
nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me, but I went away into Arabia, and returned again to Damascus.
Gal 1:18
Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas and remained with him fifteen days.
Gal 1:19
But I saw none of the other apostles except James the Lord's brother.

Гал 1:11
Звіщаю ж вам, браття, що Євангелія, яку я благовістив, вона не від людей.
Гал 1:12
Бо я не прийняв, ні навчився її від людини, але відкриттям Ісуса Христа.
Гал 1:13
Чули бо ви про моє поступовання перше в юдействі, що Божу Церкву жорстоко я переслідував та руйнував її.
Гал 1:14
І я перевищував в юдействі багатьох своїх ровесників роду мого, бувши запеклим прихильником моїх отцівських передань.
Гал 1:15
Коли ж Бог, що вибрав мене від утроби матері моєї і покликав благодаттю Своєю, уподобав
Гал 1:16
виявити мною Сина Свого, щоб благовістив я Його між поганами, я не радився зараз із тілом та кров'ю,
Гал 1:17
і не відправився в Єрусалим до апостолів, що передо мною були, а пішов я в Арабію, і знову вернувся в Дамаск.

По трьох роках потому пішов я в Єрусалим побачити Кифу, і в нього пробув днів із п'ятнадцять.

А іншого з апостолів я не бачив, крім Якова, брата Господнього.
A reading of Holy Scripture from the Gospel of Saint Matthew the Apostle 2:13-23
Mat 2:13
Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Rise, take the Child and His Mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you, for Herod is about to search for the Child, to destroy Him."
Mat 2:14
And he rose and took the Child and His Mother by night and departed to Egypt,
Mat 2:15
and remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet, "Out of Egypt I called my Son."
Mat 2:16
Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men.
Mat 2:17
Then was fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah:
Mat 2:18
"A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and loud lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children; she refused to be comforted, because they are no more."
Mat 2:19
But when Herod died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
Mat 2:20
saying, "Rise, take the Child and His Mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the Child's life are dead."
Mat 2:21
And he rose and took the Child and His Mother and went to the land of Israel.
Mat 2:22
But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there, and being warned in a dream he withdrew to the district of Galilee.
Mat 2:23
And he went and lived in a city called Nazareth, that what was spoken by the prophets might be fulfilled: "He shall be called a Nazarene."

Мт 2:13
Як відійшли волхви, ось Ангел Господень з’явився у сні Йосифові, та й каже: встань, візьми Дитя й Матір Його та біжи у Єгипет і пробудь там, поки скажу тобі: бо Ірод шукатиме Дитя, щоб погубити Його.
Мт 2:14
Він встав, узяв Дитя й Матір Його вночі, та й пішов у Єгипет.
Мт 2:15
І був там до смерти Іродової, щоб справдилось сказане Господом через пророка, що мовив: з Єгипта визвав Я Сина Мого.
Мт 2:16
Тоді Ірод, побачивши, що з його насміялись волхви, дуже розгнівався й послав повбивати всіх дітей, що були у Вифлеємі й по всіх околицях його, від двох років і менше, згідно з часом, про який допевнився у волхвів.
Мт 2:17
Тоді справдилось, що мовив пророк Ієремія, кажучи:
Мт 2:18
Голос чути в Рамі, плач і ридання й голосіння тяжке; Рахиль плаче за дітьми своїми й не хоче втішатися, бо їх вже нема.
Мт 2:19
Коли ж помер Ірод, ось Ангел Господній у сні з’явився Йосифові в Єгипті,
Мт 2:20
Та й каже: встань, візьми Дитя й Матір Його та йди в землю Ізраїлеву, бо померли ті, що шукали душі Дитяти.
Мт 2:21
Він вcтав, узяв Дитя й Матір Його та й прийшов у землю Ізраїлеву.
Мт 2:22
А як почув, що Архелай царствує над Іудеєю замість свого батька Ірода, то побоявся йти туди, а навчений у сні, пішов у краї Галилейські.
Мт 2:23
І прийшовши, поселивсь у городі, що зветься Назарет, щоб справдилось сказане пророками, що Він Назареєм назветься.
