Epistle reading from the Epistle [letter] of Saint Paul the Apostle to Ephesians 5:8-19

Eph 5:8

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light

Eph 5:9

(for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true),

Eph 5:10

and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.

Eph 5:11

Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

Eph 5:12

For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret.

Eph 5:13

But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible,

Eph 5:14

for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."

Eph 5:15

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,

Eph 5:16

making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.

Eph 5:17

Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Eph 5:18

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

Eph 5:19

addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart,

Еф 5:8

Ви бо були колись темрявою, тепер же ви світло в Господі, поводьтеся, як діти світла,

Еф 5:9

бо плід світла знаходиться в кожній добрості, і праведності, і правді.

Еф 5:10

Допевняйтеся, що приємне для Господа,

Еф 5:11

і не беріть участи в неплідних ділах темряви, а краще й докоряйте.

Еф 5:12

Бо соромно навіть казати про те, що роблять вони потаємно!

Еф 5:13

Усе ж те, що світлом докоряється, стає явне, бо все, що явне стає, то світло.

Еф 5:14

Через це то й говорить: Сплячий, вставай, і воскресни із мертвих, і Христос освітлить тебе!

Еф 5:15

Отож, уважайте, щоб поводитися обережно, не як немудрі, але як мудрі,

Еф 5:16

використовуючи час, дні бо лукаві!

Еф 5:17

Через це не будьте нерозумні, але розумійте, що є воля Господня.

Еф 5:18

І не впивайтесь вином, в якому розпуста, але краще наповнюйтесь Духом,

Еф 5:19

розмовляючи поміж собою псалмами, і гімнами, і піснями духовними, співаючи й граючи в серці своєму для Господа,

Heb 13:17

Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.

Heb 13:18

Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things.

Heb 13:19

I urge you the more earnestly to do this in order that I may be restored to you the sooner.

Heb 13:20

Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,

Heb 13:21

equip you with everything good that you may do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Слухайтесь ваших наставників та коріться їм, вони бо пильнують душ ваших, як ті, хто має здати справу. Нехай вони роблять це з радістю, а не зідхаючи, бо це для вас не корисне.

Єв 13:18

Моліться за нас, бо надіємося, що ми маємо добре сумління, бо хочемо добре в усьому поводитись.

Єв 13:19

А надто прошу це робити, щоб швидше до вас мене вернено.

Єв 13:20

Бог же миру, що з мертвих підняв великого Пастиря вівцям кров'ю вічного заповіту, Господа нашого Ісуса,

Єв 13:21

нехай вас удосконалить у кожному доброму ділі, щоб волю чинити Його, чинячи в вас любе перед лицем Його через Ісуса Христа, Якому слава на віки вічні. Амінь.

A reading of Holy Scripture from the Gospel of Saint Luke the Apostle 10:25-37

Luk 10:25

And behold, a lawyer stood up to put Him to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"

Luk 10:26

He said to him, "What is written in the Law? How do you read it?"

Luk 10:27

And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbour as yourself."

Luk 10:28

And He said to him, "You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live."

Luk 10:29

But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbour?"

Luk 10:30

Jesus replied, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead.

Luk 10:31

Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side.

Luk 10:32

So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.

Luk 10:33

But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion.

Luk 10:34

He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

Luk 10:35

And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, 'Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.'

Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbour to the man who fell among the robbers?"

Luk 10:37

He said, "The one who showed him mercy." And Jesus said to him, "You go, and do likewise."

(Ісус) же сказав йому: добре ти відповів; так чини, і будеш жити.

Але той, хотівши оправдати себе, сказав Ісусові: а хто ж мій ближній?

Відповідаючи, Ісус сказав: один чоловік ішов з Єрусалиму в Єрихон та й попався розбійникам, що, обдерши його та поранивши, пішли, покинувши його ледве живого.

Трапилось же йти тією дорогою одному священикові; він, поглянувши на нього, пройшов мимо.

Также і левит, бувши на тім місці, підійшов, поглянув і пройшов мимо.

Самарянин же якийсь, проїжджаючи, спіткав його і, побачивши його, змилосердився,

І приступивши, обв’язав йому рани, поливаючи оливою і вином, та, посадивши його на свою худобину, привіз до гостиниці і клопотавсь коло нього;

А на другий день від’їжджаючи, вийняв два динарії і дав господареві і сказав йому: доглядай його, і якщо більше на нього стратиш, я, вертаючись, оддам тобі.

Як думаєш, хто з цих трьох був ближній тому, що попавсь розбійникам?

Лк 10:37

Він же сказав: той, що вчинив над ним милосердя. Ісус же йому сказав: іди і ти так чини.

що прийшли слухати Його і сцілятися від недугів своїх, також і ті що страждали від нечистих духів; і сцілялись.

Лк 6:20

І Він, звівши очі Свої на учеників Своїх, говорив: блаженні убогії духом, бо ваше є Царство Боже.

Лк 6:22

Блаженні будете, коли зненавидять вас люди і коли відлучать вас і ганьбитимуть і рознесуть ім’я ваше як ганебне за Сина Людського.

Зрадуйтесь у той час і звеселіться, ось бо велика заплата ваша на небі. Бо так само чинили пророкам батьки їхні.

And He came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of His disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon,

Luk 6:18

who came to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases. And those who were troubled with unclean spirits were cured.

Luk 6:19

And all the crowd sought to touch Him, for power came out from Him and healed them all.

Luk 6:20

And He lifted up His eyes on His disciples, and said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

Luk 6:21

"Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. "Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.

Luk 6:22

"Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man!

Luk 6:23

Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets.
